If you have never visited my site before — Welcome! I've worked hard to make this a friendly place to visit and an effective place to learn. I recommend you start by reading the Introduction where I explain the name Cornered Cat. Then open the Contents page and start reading from the top.
If you have been here before, then you'll notice we've given Cornered Cat a facelift. The truth is, the poor girl has been neglected for awhile but it's time to get her out and get her active. And when I say active, I do mean active. I'm excited about some new ideas and some new plans. Let me share with you what I've got in mind.
- New Content. I'm making a commitment to regularly add new content as well as update and expand old content. I'll be updating many of the old articles. In many cases, I've learned a little more or become better at expressing the concepts. Some information on the old site had become out of date. The internet constantly provides new and better ways to provide information, too, so I want to make and keep this site up to date with the latest technology.
- The Cat's Meow. This week we launch the Cornered Cat Newsletter, The Cat's Meow, where I'll keep my loyal readers up to date on the latest news and gossip. The newsletter will include terrific training tips, concealed carry advice, holster and gear finds, and lots of other useful info.
- Cornered Cat Training Company (CCTC). For nearly a decade now, I've been teaching at the Firearms Academy of Seattle. And I'll continue to do that. But it's also time to take the show on the road! My plan is to offer a limited number of Cornered Cat classes around the country, and I'll also be available for speaking engagements and seminars.
- Helps for Instructors. [Coming Soon!] For several years, my email box has regularly filled with notes from firearms teachers all over the country — people who wanted to use Cornered Cat articles in their classes or who were looking for extra support for their students. So I'll be offering some fantastic resources for instructors. That's still in the early planning stages, but I wanted to let you know it's coming. Watch this space!
- Signature Products. [Coming Soon!] This is so cool! My sister's company produces screen-printed tee shirts, embroidered hats and button shirts, and lots of other great stuff. So it's definitely time to offer Cornered Cat gear here on the website. Besides, what a great way to start conversations with range friends who might love to hear about the whole Cornered Cat mindset.
- Gunhilda will now have her own little corner of the web, and I've set up an easy web form to encourage people (this means you!) to send her your questions. We had a long talk, she and I. She's as snarky as she's ever been, but now she'll be a little more helpful. Sometimes.
- Cornered Cat Community. This is the biggy. I need help. A big reason that Cornered Cat hasn't been updated in awhile is I've had to direct my efforts elsewhere in order to earn a living. Yet it is obvious that Cornered Cat has become a tremendous resource helping new shooters move from inexperience to insight. I've worked hard to make the interface clean and pleasant to read, so I don't want to fill the site up with flashing banners and annoying advertising. I thought about putting up a donation box, but that's cold and distant. So instead I've decided to build a community, a network of friends who have learned from this website and want to help others along the path they themselves have traveled.
